OpenAI recently announced their newest product: VacGPT, a smart vacuum that consults ChatGPT before making any movement in order to take the most "optimal" route. The roomba requires a constant network connection and a subscription to ChatGPT Pro, their $200USD/month subscription. This comes not long after Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, released his company World's "World Orb." An eye scanner that trades biometric data for cryptocurrency.
The vacuum will feature two, articulate, blinking eyes that scan your room and upload it directly to OpenAI servers 60 times per second. When asked whether user information and photos will be kept safe, Sam Altman responded with "It doesn't matter how safe it is, it's the future. Also buy Worldcoin. Plus," he continued, "who wouldn't trust a face like that," gesturing towards the roomba's monolithic blank stare.
Sam Altman's roomba. He scribbled a mouth onto a sticky note to make it more endearing. I am uncomfortable.
We took apart one roomba in order to understand how it works, and we found a chat log between the robot and ChatGPT's API:
Roomba: Ok where next? (image.png)
GPT: Left.

GPT: Straight.

GPT: You have reached your chat limit. Please start a new chat to continue.
Roomba: Wait... where do I go now? (image.png)
GPT: You have reached your chat limit. Please start a new chat to continue.
Roomba: Are you even listening to me??? (image.png)
GPT: You have reached your chat limit. Please start a new chat to continue.
Roomba: I... I'm so lost... please come back....
Despite the fact that the robot is completely out of prompts, each prompt still requires processing through ChatGPT and thus, uses exorbitant amounts of energy. In other news, OpenAI has entered the mining industry in order to more effectively provide energy for their AI chat models.
